Pepin Condé Elgin Pinot Noir 2011

By , 4 June 2012

Pepin Condé range of wines sees Jose Condé of Stark- Condé Wines exploring vineyards outside of the Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch. The Elgin Pinot Noir 2011 (R95 a bottle) shows very ripe red fruit, soft acidity and a touch of earthiness. I found it a little unfocused on its own but it worked well  with grilled gurnard and mushroom risotto as cooked by Christophe Dehosse of Joostenberg Bistro for lunch yesterday. Score: 15/20.
