Post House Stamp of Chenin 2015

Special delivery.

Post House Vineyards is located on the site of the original post office for the local missionary station of Raithby outside Stellenbosch and hence why the wines have a philatelic theme to them.

Winemaker Nick Gebers is resolutely traditional in his approach, this Chenin Blanc being basket pressed, fermentation occurring naturally and the wine bottled unfiltered.

The result is something with a pleasantly rustic character. The nose shows peach, ginger and spice plus some yeasty complexity while there’s good depth of flavour on the palate – rich, ripe fruit offset by zippy acidity. Not exactly classic but possessing plenty of character, pairing particularly well with pickled fish. Price: R127 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 89/100.
