Reyneke Sauvignon Blanc 2015
By Christian Eedes, 13 January 2016
The acclaimed Reserve White from biodynamic producer Reneke in Stellenbosch is, of course, a single-variety Sauvignon Blanc but there’s also a standard-label version.
If you like your Sauvignon lean and racy, then this isn’t the wine for you. On the nose, white peach and some attractive fynbos character while the palate is pure, fresh and unadorned. There’s typically some use of oak when it comes to fermentation and maturation and the wine is quite broad without being weighty. As for the finish, it’s gently savoury further contributing to a grown-up drinking experience. Price: R103 a bottle.
#WinemagRating: 88/100.
