Saronsberg Full Circle 2014
By Christian Eedes, 16 August 2016
Dewaldt Heyns, winemaker at Tulbagh winery Saronsberg, considers 2014 to have produced wines less concentrated than usual but his two focus reds, the Shiraz and the Rhône-style Full Circle from this vintage, are no shrinking violets.
Saronsberg Shiraz 2014
Price: R190
Small portion of whol-bunch fermentation. Matured in French oak for 20 months, 90% new. Ultra-ripe black fruit, intense pepper plus notes of fynbos and fresh herbs. A forceful wine – very rich and full. Sweet on entry but tannins are firm providing a dry finish.
#WinemagRating: 89/100.
Saronsberg Full Circle 2014
