Schultz Family Wines is the own label of Rudi Schultz, winemaker at Thelema in Stellenbosch, the current releases bearing labels depicting favourite surf spots, these winning gold at the recent Wine Label Design Awards.

Matured in older oak for nine months. Grapes from two old bush vine blocks, one near Joostenberg and the other in Somerset West. A beguiling nose with top notes of blossom and herbs before lemon, naartjie and peach. The palate is light bodied yet simultaneously immensely concentrated with fresh acidity and a savoury, slightly bitter finish. Plenty of subtle intricacy. Alcohol: 12%.

5% whole-bunch fermentation before maturation lasting 18 months, 10% new. More black than red fruit, fynbos, pepper and spice on the nose. Rich and full on the palate but nicely balanced – pure fruit, tangy acidity and crunchy tannins. Carries its 14.5% alcohol well.
