Shiner Red NV #3

By , 21 December 2022

Shiner from Martin Smith of Paserene is never the same wine twice and each rendition comes with a new chapter in the novel by the same name, current chapter by renowned author Deon Meyer.

Version #3 is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Petit Verdot and 4% Carménère, matured for 22 months in French oak, 50% new. Plums, black cherry and cassis plus chocolate and some earthiness on the nose precedes a palate that has good depth of fruit, moderate acidity and firm but not aggressive tannins. A wine that packs a punch (sorry, couldn’t help myself). Price: R300 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 90/100.
