Sijnn Touriga Naçional 2017

By , 23 January 2020

Dark matter.

Touriga Naçional, the famous Port variety, is known for producing extremely concentrated, dark, tannic wines with a distinctive floral aromatic note in youth and the team at Sijnn in Malgas have nailed it in the case of the 2017 vintage.

The nose is exotic and compelling with notes of black and blueberries, heady floral perfume, aniseed and other spice as well as some earth while the palate displays great depth of fruit, bright acidity and tannins that are pleasantly firm and chewy, the finish intensely savoury. A forceful yet very well-balanced wine. Price: R220 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 93/100.
