Stellenbosch Vineyards The Flagship Cabernet Franc 2010

Sailing the high seas.

Stellenbosch Vineyards have gone all out with their top-end wine that is The Flagship Cabernet Franc 2010 and it pretty much works.

From a combination of Stellenbosch and Darling fruit, the wine was matured for 42 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, 70% new. On the nose, red and black berries, a subtle herbal quality and a hint of violets plus pencil shavings and a little boot polish. Full but balanced – pure fruit, fresh acidity and nicely smooth tannins. It has a generosity about it without being facile. Also in its favour, it appears remarkably youthful and should provide good drinking for at least the next five years. Price: R400 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 92/100.
