Stellenrust 51 Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc 2015
By Christian Eedes, 23 November 2016
The 51 Barrel Fermented Chenin Blanc from Stellenbosch cellar Stellenrust is delicious but bloody gigantic (price: R140 a bottle). On the nose, citrus, pear, peach and apricot plus a hint of reduction. The palate meanwhile is utterly luscious, possessing both depth and breadth before a long and gently savoury finish. It makes a huge impression but the special project Old Vines 2015 shades it in terms of finesse (see here).
#WinemagRating: 94/100.
