Pella Koueveld Albariño 2024
Price: R250
Labelled simply as Wine of Origin Western Cape, the wine underwent 24 hours’ skin contact before fermentation and maturation lasting six months in old oak. The nose shows peach, apricot and orange, lifted by a faint floral note. The palate is relatively rich and chunky, bright acidity providing balance, with a gently savoury close. Not especially detailed, but well-made and agreeable. Alc: 13%.
CE rating: 91/100.
Pella White Granite Semillon 2024
Price: R220
From Stellenbosch Kloof, with three days’ skin contact before fermentation in stainless steel. Citrus, peach, winter melon and hay appear on the nose. Medium-bodied on the palate, with moderate acidity and a salty finish. Subtle, composed and quietly refined. Alc: 13%.
CE rating: 91/100.
Pella Kanniedood Chenin Blanc 2024
Price: R220
From a Stellenbosch vineyard planted in 1985. Six days’ skin contact precede fermentation and nine months’ maturation in old oak. CE rating: 92/100.
