Swerwer Chenin Blanc 2022

By , 9 January 2024

In 2022, heatwaves prevailed during early season in the Swartland and growers were required to harvest white grape varieties earlier to preserve acidity. Grapes for Swerwer Chenin Blanc as made by Jasper Wickens come from four Paardeberg vineyards on granite, the resulting wine possessing an alcohol of 12.5%, the wine generally nicely balanced.

Pear, peach and citrus plus notes of hay and earth on the nose while the palate is lean and pithy but not at the expense of intricacy. Fruit is well delineated and there’s no shortage of flavour. Approximate retail price: R250 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 93/100.
