The Giant Periwinkle Camel Spider Pinotage 2024

By , 25 April 2026

It’s a Pinotage that really does taste a little bit like Cinsault, a little bit like Pinot Noir. From own Cape Agulhas vines, as made by Pierre Rabie (day job: advocate), winemaking involved 30% whole-bunch fermentation before maturation lasting six months in one 400-litre clay amphora. Attractive aromatics of red cherry, pomegranate, musk, spice and a touch of earth, the palate is medium bodied (alc: 13%) with fresh acidity and a gently savoury finish. Price: R240 a bottle.
