The Grande Provence White 2014
By Christian Eedes, 29 June 2016
The maiden 2013 vintage of Grande Provence White 2013 caused a stir when it was rated 95 points in UK magazine Decanter and now the 2014 has been released, set to sell at R420 a bottle.
A blend of 60% Chenin Blanc and 40% Viognier, it was matured for 12 months in older French oak. On the nose, citrus and peach, quite a bit of vanilla and plenty of leesy character. It seems quite a lot richer and sweeter than the 2013, quite greasy in texture with moderate acidity. Many will like it for how sleek it is.
