TSW Cinsault 2023

By , 27 September 2024

Whereas the Trizanne Barnard’s Seascape range are smart and highly collectible, the TSW wines are more “lifestyle” and priced accordingly – the range consists of a Sauvignon Blanc from the Cape South Coast as well as a Cinsault and a Syrah both from Swartland, all three wines priced at R155 a bottle. The 2023s have just been released and it’s the Cinsault that’s the pick of the bunch.

Grapes from dryland bushvines, winemaking involved 30% whole-bunch fermentation before maturation lasting 10 months in a combination of stainless steel tank and foudre. On the nose, red and black cherry, fynbos, earth and spice while the palate shows good fruit definition – it’s light-bodied but not insipid, the finish nicely dry. Alc: 12.84%.

CE’s rating: 91/100.
