The TSW Syrah from Trizanne Barnard of Trizanne Signature Wines has long been a go-to wine for characterful drinking that’s also affordable and the 2021 doesn’t disappoint. From Swartland grapes, maturation lasted 12 months in older 500-litre barrels. The nose shows red and black berries, olive tapenade and white pepper while the palate is medium bodied with lemon-like acidity and fine tannins. Not hugely intense just very pleasing and more-ish. Price: R130 a bottle.
