Vin de Constance 2019

By , 16 September 2022

Matt Day of Klein Constantia has become astonishingly proficient at turning out a world-class sweet wine the in the form of Vin de Constance year in and year out. From Muscat de Frontignan, it does not trade off botrytis for complexity. Recent incarnations are instead all about intricacy and delicacy and the 2019 is again very much in this vein.

Floral perfume, citrus, peach and apricot and some fynbos on the nose while the palate shows excellent fruit definition and bright acidity before a pithy finish. It’s beautifully poised and precise wine with great length. Price: R1 350 per 500ml bottle.

CE’s rating: 97/100.
