Antigo 2019 is a new Cape Bordeaux Red Blend from Waterford in Stellenbosch. Consisting of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec, it’s set to sell for under R200 a bottle and totally over-delivers.
The nose shows red and black berries, an appealing herbal note and violets while the palate is medium bodied (alcohol: 13%) with fresh acidity and fine tannins. Really nice fruit expression and a finish that is dry but not austere.
