Waterkloof Seriously Cool Cinsault 2018
By Christian Eedes, 28 February 2020
Breezy.
Cinsault is all the rage right now but to drink the Seriously Cool 2018 from Waterkloof is to be reminded that this is in most instances a workhorse rather than a thoroughbred of a grape variety.
From Stellenbosch vineyards planted in 1964 and 1974. The nose shows macerated strawberry, Turkish Delight and a hint of spice. The palate meanwhile is fruity with moderate acidity and soft tannins – alcohol is 11.5%. Cheerful and unassuming rather than a wine of great distinction. Price: R129 a bottle.
CE’s rating: 88/100.
