Michael Fridjhon Wine Judging Academy 2018: Roll of Honour

The Michael Fridjhon Wine Academy, begun in 2007, is a three-day course where candidates are exposed to a range of top local and international wines intended to refine ideas about wine quality – it seeks to ensure that a steady stream of competent wine judge enter the industry.

The 2018 Academy was held from 5 to 7 April at the Southern Sun Cullinan Hotel in Cape Town. Three candidates excelled by getting a mark of 75% or higher in the final-day exam and thereby earning a distinction. These were:

Ndaba Dube, manager of the Square Restaurant at the Vineyard Hotel, Cape Town and winemag.co.za tasting coordinator
Heidi Kritzinger, Kanonkop Customer Relations Manager: International
Barbara Melck, Vinimark assistant winemaker
