Tim Whitfield, assistant winemaker at Tokara, will be joining the Plaisir winemaking team in October.

Whitfield will be mentored by Ronell Wiid, who now moves to cellarmaster tasked with overseeing the style and quality of Michael and Rose Jordaan’s wine properties Bartinney in Banghoek and the recently acquired Plaisir on the Paarl side of Simonsberg.

Plaisir’s long-serving winemaker Neil Bester continues to be involved for the time being on a consultant level using the cellar’s facilities to produce his own level.

Whitfield has been working alongside Tokara winemaker Stuart Botha since 2018. An Elsenberg graduate in Viticulture and Oenology, his winemaking experience before joining Tokara included stints at Ceberberg and Spier as well as a harvest in Northern Rhône.
