Backsberg Family Reserve White 2016
By Christian Eedes, 3 May 2017
The Family Reserve White from Paarl property Backsberg is establishing itself as an eccentric but not unaccomplished offering, the 2016 composed of 50% Roussanne, 25% Chardonnay and 25% Sauvignon Blanc, matured for six months in French oak, 100% new.
It shows lime, lemon, peach and a hint of spice. Rich and broad, smooth in texture with moderate acidity, it comes across as polished and so it probably should at R200 a bottle.
