Beaumont Hope Marguerite Chenin Blanc 2023

By , 15 January 2025

Delicious. That, in a word, describes the 2023 vintage of Hope Marguerite from Bot River property Beaumont. Grapes from two certified heritage vineyards, the one planted in 1974 and the other in 1978, winemaking involved partial malolactic fermentation before maturation lasting 11 months in 400-litre barrels, 15% new.

The nose shows pear, peach, quince and apple plus notes of earth, vanilla and spice. The palate is simultaneously rich and vibrant, concentrated fruit matched by punchy acidity. Lovely weight and texture, the alcohol nevertheless moderate at 12.73%. Price: R450 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 95/100.
