Bosman Family Vineyards Twyfeling Cinsaut 2015

No doubt about it.

It’s now pretty much certain that single-variety Cinsaut is no passing fad, Bosman Family Vineyards in Wellington yet another producer to come to market with a serious rendition of the variety. From bush vines planted in 2003, the wine was matured for 12 months in second- and third-fill 225-litre French oak barrels.

The nose shows dark cherry, some reduction, a hint of vanilla and earth. The palate, meanwhile, has very well delineated fruit, lemon-like acidity and subtle tannic grip, the finish gently dry. It’s very well handled, the winemaking team having achieved a balance between getting the grapes properly ripe and not losing the charm that the best examples tend to possess.
