Delheim Vaaldraai Cabernet Franc 2014
By Christian Eedes, 14 November 2017
Delheim has launched its first single-variety Cabernet Franc, named Vaaldraai after the vineyard which supplied the grapes and very nicely judged it is, too. Matured for nine months in 6 500-litre foudre before a further six months in older casks, it shows roses and violets before red fruit and just a little spice. The palate is medium bodied with pure fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins. Unfussy and easy to like. Exclusively available to the cellar’s wine club members at R200 a bottle.
