Donkiesbaai Steen 2015
By Christian Eedes, 22 March 2016
The Steen under the Donkiesbaai label from a Piekenierskloof vineyard planted in 1979 is quickly becoming one of my very favourite. The recently released 2015 vintage has an elusive nose of pear, white peach, lemon and a very subtle yeasty note. Pure and concentrated on the palate with lovely fresh acidity and great length. It’s precise– absolutely no rough edges – and it really stands out because of this. Approximate retail price: R205 a bottle.
