Genevieve is the brand name that Melissa Genevieve Nelsen gives her Cap Classique, the 2016 Blanc de Blancs from Overberg and Bot River Chardonnay and hence designated as W.O. Cape South Coast.
Disgorged after three years on the lees, the nose shows peach, citrus and some pleasant yeasty character while the palate rich and full with a creamy mousse. Nicely weighted and that much more immediately accessible than the 2015. Price: R250 a bottle.
CE’s rating: 91/100.

For my money, Genevieve is the most characterful and delicious small production MCC around, along with Saltare and, though this site is too upstanding to say so, Dainty Bess.

Thanks Duncan. Support for small batch producers is always appreciated.
