Graham Beck Blanc de Blancs 2019
By Christian Eedes, 8 January 2025
The Blanc de Blancs from Cap Classique specialists Graham Beck is always a precise, calculated wine. Grapes from the oldest blocks on the producer’s own Robertson property, 50% of the base wine for the 2019 was fermented in a combination of old 205- and 500-litre barrels as well as foudre while the wine spent five years on the lees before disgorgement.
Lemon, orange and peach plus notes of fresh bread and biscuit on the nose while the palate is rich with a creamy mousse, bright acidity lending verve (alc: 12.37%). Made in an unashamedly opulent style. Price: R390 a bottle.
CE’s rating: 92/100.
