Joostenberg Chenin Blanc Noble Late Harvest 2022

By , 19 January 2024

Grapes for the Noble Late Harvest from Paarl property Joostenberg come from a block planted in 1989. Only bunches that are raisined or infected by botrystis are used and in the case of the 2022 vintage, picking occurred on 11 separate occasions, the first on 8 April and the last on 12 May.

Fermentation and maturation lasting six months occurred in oak barrels, 6% of which were new. The nose shows a pronounced herbal, almost minty note as well as potpourri, citrus, peach and honey. The palate is rich (alcohol: 13.5%) with tangy acidity lending balance, some appealing bitterness to the finish. Good concentration and drive. Price: R205 per 357ml bottle.

CE’s rating: 92/100.
