Keermont Riverside Chenin Blanc 2014

Uncommon.

Planted in 1971, the Riverside Chenin Blanc block is the oldest on Stellenbosch farm Keermont and the resulting wine is particular as single-vineyard wines often are.

The 2014 (Wine Cellar price: R265 a bottle) was fermented and matured for 12 months in a combination of new and used French oak. It shows peach and a hint of apricot, potpourri and some yeasty complexity. The palate is rich and broad, smooth textured and very flavoursome. I found it slightly listless, the TA a rather low 4.7g/l, but that is to be pernickety.

#WinemagRating: 92/100.
