Paul Wallace Reflection Chardonnay 2025

By , 15 May 2026

Elgin’s strongest variety, white or red, is (fight me) Chardonnay and Paul Wallace Wines (founders Paul and Nicky plus winemaker son Bobby) have produced a fine example in the form of Reflections 2025 (price: R320).

Fruit from a tiny 0.85ha south-facing shale vineyard planted to CY95, winemaking involved fermentation and maturation for 10 months in a combination of 300- and 500-litre barrels, 18% new.

Aromatics are subtle with notes of struck-match reduction, lemon and a hint of vanilla while the palate shows good fruit concentration and punchy acidity before a dry finish. Pure, poised and set to mature with benefit. Alc: 12.55%.

CE’s rating: 93 | Serious
