Solace Syrah 2014

Chilled out.

The wines of Elgin property Iona tend to have a careful tastefulness about them and this is once again the case with the new Solace Syrah 2014.

Spontaneously fermented and matured in older 500-litre barrels, the nose shows red fruit, some floral fragrance, fynbos and white pepper while the palate is medium bodied with bright acidity and fine tannins. It’s very good but perhaps a little more cut and thrust would’ve made it even better. Wine Cellar price: R240 a bottle.

#WinemagRating: 92/100.
