Sons of Sugarland Syrah 2021

By , 24 January 2022

100% wholebunch, 100% concrete has always been Reenen Borman’s philosophy when it comes to making the Stellenbosch Syrah under the Sons of Sugarland label, this done to facilitate extra fragrance and delicacy of texture.

It’s worked a treat in the case of the soon-to-be-released 2021 vintage. The nose has beguiling aromatics of red and black berries, rose, fynbos and white pepper while the palate shows particular poise and finesse – lovely fruit purity, bright acidity and powdery tannins. A supremely elegant rendition of the variety. Release is set for the beginning of March and the price will be R390 a bottle.

CE’s rating: 96/100.
