Yerden Eksteen Nosotros Malbec 2021, which won bronze at this year’s Label Design Awards sponsored by Rotolabel, is named for winemaking couple Sol Yerden of Argentina and Pieter Willem Eksteen of South Africa, son of the accomplished Bartho. “Nosotros” meanwhile means “us” in Spanish.
Grapes from Stellenbosch, maturation lasted 12 months in 400-litre barrels. Heady aromas of plum, cassis, violets and spice while the palate is luscious, dense (alc: 14.5%) and deep with bright acidity and velvety tannins. Price: R250 a bottle.
