The 2013 vintage of Seriously Cool Cinsault is the same smashable vein as the maiden 2012 (see here) if a teeny-weeny bit not as tight and focused.
Grapes from Helderberg bush vines more than 40 years old, vinfication involving spontaneous, whole-bunch fermentation and nine months of maturation in 600-litre oak barrels, a combination of second- and third-fill.
There’s an extravagant perfume to the nose with notes of flowers and dried herbs while the palate is light bodied with clean fruit, bright acidity and tannins so fine as to be non-existent. Red cherry and raspberry before finish which is ever so gently spicy. Over-delivers at R95 a bottle.
