Best Sommelier in SA 2021 announced

Wikus Human is the new Best Sommelier in South Africa as judged by The South African Sommeliers Association in association with Stellenbosch Wine Routes. Human is a Court of Masters Certified Sommelier, the head sommelier at Marble and Saint Restaurants in Johannesburg, and winner of the Moët & Chandon Best Young Sommelier in 2017.
He was up against sommelier-at-large and winemaker Jean Vincent Ridon and Laurie Cooper of Abingdon Wine Estate and KZN School of Wine in the finals. Judges included chef Harald Bresselschmidt of Aubergine in Cape Town, Madeleine Stenwreth MW, 2018 Best Sommelier in South Africa, Jo Wessels and SASA Chairperson and ASI Diploma sommelier, Spencer Fondaumiere.
