You know Rosé has come of age when the acclaimed Chris Alheit turn his hand to it and what’s more, puts it on the market at R330 a bottle. From old bush-vine Swartland Pinotage, the nose shows cherry, some earthiness, dried herbs and spice while the palate is linear and direct with punchy acidity.
I’ve had this twice now: once sighted in December, and on Saturday, at a blind rosé tasting. It’s delicious. Probably my favourite rosé, along with the Van Loggerenberg (BdN). I wish it was more affordable, though.

For some reason Christian, I thought that you were going to bring REM into the review. It is a really clever name for a Rosé , IMHO.

Wonder why there’s no reference to the Alheits’ Rosé on their website…

Hi Mike, It was originally promoted as a members’ only wine but is fairly widely available in the trade.
