Natte Valleij Cinsault 2017
By Christian Eedes, 21 May 2018
Alex Milner of Natte Valleij has made a speciality out of Cinsault bottling four site-specific versions plus one multi-regional blend, the 2017 vintage of the latter (approximate retail price: R135 a bottle) reviewed below.
The nose has a very floral, almost musky top note before red cherry, strawberry, herbs and spice. The palate is plump and juicy with moderate acidity and soft tannins, the finish still managing to be relatively savoury (alcohol: 13.5%). Good fun to drink.
Editor’s rating: 89/100.
