The Gateway from Rickety Bridge in Franschhoek (the name a reference to the crossing between here and its sister property) is a straw wine made from a bush vine block of Colombar planted in 1977, two vintages namely 2021 and 2022 blended and hence non-vintage.
The nose shows straw, dried peach and apricot, fynbos and honey while the palate is light and delicate (RS is 102.7g/l) by the standards of this category. Pure and precise with bright acidity and a dry finish. Price: R400 per 375ml bottle.
