L’Omarins Blanc de Blancs 2015
By Christian Eedes, 14 July 2022
L’Ormarins is part of Anthonij Rupert Wyne portfolio and the various examples of Cap Classique under this label tend to be rather stylish. Grapes for the Blanc de Blancs 2015 are predominantly from Elandskloof, 20% of the base wine fermented and matured for 12 weeks in barrel while time on lees is 48 months after secondary fermentation.
The nose shows a little flinty reduction before citrus, green apple and a touch of biscuit while the palate is substantial with good richness and a creamy mousse but equally bright acidity. Impressive clarity of fruit given the extended lees contact. Price: R230 a bottle.
CE’s rating: 90/100.
